Education & Training

Dr Paramjit Jeetley qualified from the University of Bristol in 1995. He worked as a junior doctor in the south-west of England for 5 years before embarking on a dedicated period of research at Northwick Park Hospital, London under the internationally renowned Professor Roxy Senior. There he developed his clinical skills in stress and contrast perfusion echocardiography. He has presented his work at national and international meetings, published original research in high impact peer-reviewed journals and was awarded an MD in 2010.

His higher specialist training took place in the Severn region where he received extensive training in all areas of cardiology. In particular he continued to develop his specialist skills in echocardiography as well as managing patients with heart failure. He completed his higher specialist training at the Bristol Heart Institute and was awarded his Certificate of Specialist Training in Cardiology and General (Internal) Medicine in 2011.

Current Practice

Clinically, Dr Jeetley has been a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Free Hospital since 2011. He has a busy NHS practice managing both in-patients and out-patients with a wide spectrum of cardiac conditions. In addition, he has a sub-speciality interest in cardiac imaging particularly echocardiography and cardiac CT. He has weekly lists in stress echocardiography and cardiac CT as well as a regular commitment to a trans-oesophageal echocardiography list.

He has further sub-speciality interests in heart failure and in the cardiac assessment of patients with advanced renal disease. In particular he provides cardiology input into patients who are being considered for renal transplantation.

He believes in a holistic approach to patient care. He assesses each patient individually taking into account their specific needs and tailoring the latest in evidenced based care to their requirements. This includes advising on lifestyle interventions on top of advising on the most appropriate medication and specialist procedures.

Memberships

Education, Leadership and Research

Dr Jeetley is the current Medical Director of the Royal Free Private Practice Unit.

He is also the current lead for the cardiac CT service and chair of the regional cardiac CT imaging group. Prior to this he held a number of departmental leadership roles including being the Clinical Director for Cardiology from 2016-2021.

He has been very involved in medical education and is an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at University College London. He is joint-lead for the undergraduate teaching for cardiology at the Royal Free Hospital for UCL Medical School. As well as regular teaching, he invigilates end of year and final examinations, and interviews for the medical school.

He maintains an interest in clinical research and continues to contribute to original publications. He has been Principal Investigator in international research studies and has contributed to books and book chapters in a variety of subjects.
